Interview with Morgan Chedhomme, manager of Team Fima-RDV BikeShop-Alian (formerly Team Fima-Cyrpeo-Alian)

  • Hello Morgan, can we let you introduce yourself and the team to our readers?

My name is Morgan Chedhomme. I am manager of Team Fima-Cyrpeo-Alian. We set up the Team last year with a friend Mathieu Gaye who became its sports director and we obtained the UCI label this year, which is quite brilliant. Being former professional riders and Elite amateurs, we still practice cycling but rather for leisure and especially to guide our athletes on the recognition of circuits.

  • How was the preparation for the team for the season?

We did an internship physical and technical in August to prepare well for the season and fine-tune the settings (bikes, positions, etc.). The course lasted 4 days, with very intense work that turned out to be very beneficial 3 weeks before the start of the season. Each of our athletes has a personal trainer with whom we are in permanent contact, in order to establish the procedure to follow according to their targeted objectives. We also take advantage of each “race” trip to work on certain technical topics. The idea is to be part of a process of continuous progress.

  • Can you now introduce us to the team and its members?

The Team is made up of 6 riders, 3 men, 3 women. In terms of age, we go between 18 and 33 years old. And for the staff, it is made up of 10 people in total with physiotherapists, assistants, mechanics.
Among the biggest winners we have:
– Marlène Petitgirard, winner of the 2019 French Cup for cyclo-cross and several podiums in UCI international cyclocross
– Laura Porhel, 3rd in the French U23 Championships 2019 and several Top 10 on UCI rounds.
– Cyprien Gilles, 6th in the last French championships, currently second French in the U23 world rankings and several UCI podiums
– Gwenning Ledantec, several times Ile-de-France champion and several Top 10 on UCI
– For Tino Ourliac and Xavier Pains, recently out of Junior, we operate the training in order to achieve the same track record over two years.
 

  • < strong>How did the first races go?

The start of the season is quite good since the Team already has 12 victories in six weekends. We also obtained several Top 10 in the Coupe de France. Laura is currently at the foot of the podium in the general classification and Cyprien gave the Team its first podium on a UCI international cyclocross in Ireland. Overall, we are very happy and it bodes well for a great season with big goals to achieve.
 

  • What exactly are these objectives?

The program consists of UCI races, plus a few regional races but our red thread is the French Cups of which there are 4 rounds left. For some of our riders, the goal is also to join the French team, as was the case from our first year. The ambition is to be able to participate in the World Cups, in particular the two French rounds. And the ultimate goal is the French championships in Liévin, where we will aim for a podium whether it's for the girls or for the U23 boys.
